THE LATEST – JIM BUDD JOINS THE TEAM

A lot has happened since I last posted “The Latest”

Firstly – a BIG welcome to Jim Budd who is going to be updating the Loire Valley and South-West France sections for us. Jim is the acknowledged expert on the wines of the Loire Valley and also a fierce exposer of rip-off wine investment companies. You’ll be hearing a lot from Jim soon.

Secondly – I have just returned from a week tasting the 2015 vintage wines of Bordeaux en primeur. Whether that’s a useful exercise or not is debateable and you can read my conclusions at http://www.winebehindthelabel.org/blog/summary-bordeaux-primeurs/. The top châteaux are surely going to wax fat on this vintage and the merchants are gong to be happy with some stock they will be able to shift at last. No wonder the loo at Ch. Latour was bigger than my hotel bedroom!

There is an amusing little wine drinkers’ poll on our Home page and do look at a couple of excellent articles we have gathered from around the web on wine when you go to http://www.winebehindthelabel.org/category/wine-news/
We continue to post up winery profiles from the guide – we are concentrating on Portugal at the moment – see them on the http://www.winebehindthelabel.org/category/vineyards/ page.

And finally, don’t forget that we will be on stand J62 at the London Wine Fair, May 3-5 at Olympia. Join me there to meet David Moore and I who will run you through the intricate windings of Wine behind the label. Meet also Barry Wax who flies over from America to show his incredible VinGardeValise – the ultimate wine-carrying suitcase as well as Thomas Zichtl whose uniquely-shaped Double Bend, mouth-blown lead-free crystal glasses from Austria, are something that will grace the top table in any establishment.

Until the next time – happy drinking, happy eating and happy travelling.
