Prior to setting up his own business he was editor of Harpers Wine & Spirit where he was widely recognised for having turned one of the UK’s oldest publications in to an agenda setting, must read for the drinks industry. Throughout his career Richard has built a reputation for campaigning journalism that gets to the heart of the business issues that really matter to his readers. Richard has been particularly successful in championing the causes of small retailers and businesses across the different channels he has worked in. A finalist six times in the prestigious PPA Awards – the Oscars for the magazine industry - for campaigns covering issues as wide as violent crime against local retailers to bootlegging of alcohol and tobacco. At Harpers he was responsible for helping set up a series of Best Practice Guidelines by which independent wine merchants could work in a more transparent and collaborative way with their suppliers.
