The Latest – June 2nd 2017
Here is what we have been up to over the last couple of weeks.
We have continued to post up interesting wine news from around the world, culminating with the historic victory by Champagne Jayne over the CIVC (Comité Champagne) over her right to use the name “Champagne” as part of her business name. You can read this and all other news since my last posting of “The Latest” on https://www.winebehindthelabel.org/category/wine-news/
I visited the London Wine Fair and you can read my impressions of the major interest I found there. Here I discovered wines from countries not normally associated with vine growing – Ecuador, The Azores and Belgium. And why not? See my assessment on the five producers I covered.
We have posted up the first instalment of Kathleen Burke’s fascinating History and Culture of Wine and david has posted up the second instalment of the major Oregon and Washington State tasting in London held last month.
Wine dinner at The Yacht. There are still a few places available for this event but bookings will close on Tuesday June 6th. If you are still interested to attend this unique event, please go to make your reservation.
The Club behind the label members, of course, should book in on to obtain their discount.
And, mentioning members, there is a members only report on the Horst Sauer Masterclass held at the London Wine Fair – a fascinating insight to what a dedicated wine producer can do with Silvaner in an area surrounded by a sea of Liebfraumilch.
Members also have access to part 7 of The Wine Cellar Insider’s take on the 2016 primeurs campaign in Bordeaux – this time focussing on Pomerol.
And now, for Members only – how to make Sonia’s stunning Sushi of Smoked Salmon and Oysters in a Guinness and Oyster sauce with recommended wines from me.
