Beaux Frères Vineyards Ribbon Ridge
Undoubtedly a producer of some of the best Pinot Noir in the Willamette Valley, this operation is as well known for the involvement of wine critic Robert M Parker as for anything else. The Beaux Frères vineyard in the Ribbon Ridge was planted in 1988. As with most of the current run of vineyards, vine density is high at over 2,200 vines per acre and the latest Dijon clones are planted. Vinification occurs naturally with indigenous yeasts from the vineyard and malolactic is also allowed to occur naturally. The results are impressive. The wines are powerful and structured with greater grip and concentration than most of their contemporaries. The Willamette Valley, formerly Belles Soeurs, is not a secondary label but sourced from other excellent Willamette vineyards and a third wine The Upper Terrace, from a new vineyard in the Ribbon Ridge AVA has now been added.
