Brown Estate Vineyards Napa Valley
Fine Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon are produced from the Brown family property in the Chiles Valley District in the eastern Napa. Of the 16 ha (40 acres) under vine, two-thirds are planted to Zinfandel. The first vintage of Zinfandel was only in 1996, but it is one of the very best examples from the region, with vibrant, spicy, dark bramble fruit underpinned by tangy acidity and marvellous intensity and depth.
A second Zin Westside is also made from estate grapes, but labelled Napa Valley rather than Chiles Valley. The subtly oaked Cabernet Sauvignon is 100% varietal and is loaded with vibrant blackberry and spicy fruit. It will evolve well with 5 years’ ageing. The small range is completed by an estate-grown Chardonnay and Chaos Theory a blend of Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah. (DM)
