Château Dauzac Margaux
André Lurton had controlled this property for its insurance company owners until 2013. Now management has been taken over by Laurent Fortin who is instigating a change towards biodiversity. There are 46 ha under vine here and production is just shy of 25,000 cases, so it is a sizeable operation. The style is supple and rich with an emphasis on approachable dark fruit and well judged oak. The wine is only kept in barrel for 12 months but 50–80% is new. Quality has improved dramatically since the 1990s. (DM)
