Cuvaison Wines Napa Valley
Medium-sized operation producing sizeable volumes of Chardonnay. Fruit is sourced from its own vineyards, including a property in Carneros, as well as from elsewhere; the recently acquired Brandlin Ranch on Mount Veeder also now provides further resources of estate fruit for vintages to come and a top end Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot blend Two Estates has now been released. The wines are wellcrafted, well-priced and always reliable. They are also very well priced in a California context. Most impressive is the Single Block Kite Tail Chardonnay from south facing slopes which gets 15 months in mainly new high-quality French oak. Syrah from Carneros estate fruit and other Single Block wines have been added to the the range. Expect these to have good potential. (DM)
