Iron Horse Vineyards Green Valley of Russian River Valley

Iron Horse Vineyards Green Valley of Russian River Valley

ironhorsevineyardsLike MARIMAR TORRES, Iron Horse is located in the cool Green Valley of Russian River Valley AVA (which may very shortly become officially known as Green Valley), where it produces some of the best sparkling wines in California. These are sourced from the lower-lying sites most affected by early morning fog, which provide fruit with ideal acidity. There is a stylish Pinot Noir-dominated Wedding Cuvée, the Russian Cuvée with a slightly higher dosage and the Classic Vintage Brut, which is a blend of roughly 60/40 Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Impressively structured and elegant, the Blanc de Blancs is only a touch below the quality of the much pricier Brut LD. An extensive range of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay still wines is also produced. From the cool climate Green Valley come both Estate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. An unoaked Chardonnay is also made as well as a more expensive (£E) Heritage Clone example. As well as the Estate wine there are a number of more expensive Pinot Noir (£F) releases from specially selected estate vineyard blocks. (DM)
