Jurtschitsch Sonnhof Kamptal
This traditional family estate, now under the stewardship of Alwin and Stefanie Jurtschitsch, is run along ecological principles and with parcels in some of Kamptal’s top sites, is making excellent progress, now producing wines of a quality close to the top tier of Wachau/Kamptal dry whites. In the vineyards particular attention is paid to reducing yields, a dedication reflected in the both the intensity and length of flavour achieved with Grüner Veltliner and the particularly fine fruit and gentle minerality in the best Rieslings. Most wines drink well with just 2 or 3 years’ age. While the selection of wines varies somewhat from year to year it usually includes those listed below. Small quantities of sweet wines (Trockenbeerenauslese and even Eiswein) from Riesling, Grüner Veltliner and Chardonnay are made when conditions favour it.
