Leonetti Cellar Walla Walla Valley
Leonetti is one of the very best producers of Bordeaux-style reds in Washington State. The Reserve is of formidable proportions – a powerful wine that is sturdy but refined and very long-lived – an approach that has been perpetuated here for over three decades. High quality is maintained in the home vineyards, which are on fine, well-drained hillside slopes. Sustainable viticulture is practised and yields are kept down, rarely exceeding three tons to the acre. Green harvesting is also practiced. As well as the impressive Cabernet and Merlot, stylish Sangiovese is also produced in a softer, lighter style, displaying very good intense, dark cherry fruit. The magnificent Reserve meritage red is made in very small quantities. (DM)
