Penner-Ash Wine Cellars Willamette Valley
Ron and Lynn Penner-Ash produce some rich and concentrated Willamette Valley Pinot Noir as well as small quantities of hand-crafted Syrah and Viognier. The Syrah comes from several different Oregon growers, while the Viognier is sourced from the Del Rio Vineyard in the south of the state. The Pinot Noir, a blend from a number of sites gets 9 months in French oak, 40% of the barrels being new. The wine is rich and concentrated, firmly structured with dark berry fruit and a savoury edge to the palate. The Shea bottling is again rich, dark, plummy and smoky with additional weight and concentration. Both will keep well for 6 or 7 years and also drink well within a year or so of release. A wide range of single vineyard wines are now made. (DM)
