Philip Togni Vineyard Spring Mountain
Philip Togni is a vastly experienced winemaker, having worked at a number of major wineries during a career spanning 4 decades. From his own estate vineyards on Spring Mountain he produces one of the more impressive Cabernets to be found in the Napa. It is a dense, powerful wine, with considerable tannin reinforcing its mountain origins, its texture rounded by malolactic fermentation in barrel. Powerful and long-lived it requires 8–10 years in the cellar. A second bottling from younger vines Tanbark Hill has joined the grand vin. Togni also produces a tiny amount of a fine sweet dessert wine from Black Muscat under the Ca Togni label. (DM)
