Quinta do Ameal Minho
Pedro Araújo is a great grandson of Adriano Ramos Pinto. Vineyards have been long established in this northern part of the Vinho Verde DOC but yields from 12 ha have been reduced to well below the norm. Under the winemaking expertise of Anselmo Mendes, Loureiro forms the basis of both a fresh and focused unoaked version that is sold as a Vinho Verde most recently showing increased minerality and depth. A more concentrated and detailed, oak fermented and aged (6 months new French) Escholha sold as Vinho Regional Minho. The latter needs at least 2-3 years age to show at its best. Also made is an unoaked Arinto with plenty of ripe fruit depth if not quite the finesse that Loureiro brings, a complex, structured traditional method Espumante (Arinto) and Special Harvest, a delicious passito method sweet Loureiro.
