Rosenblum Cellars Alameda
The Rosenblum warehouse winery is located in the San Francisco Bay area in central Alameda. The main focus here is on Zinfandel and very good it is too. Even in a difficult years the wines stand out for their intensity, purity and depth and the top examples show really splendid complexity. Numerous bottlings are sourced from a diversity of regions – Contra Costa to Paso Robles to Sonoma’s Alexander Valley. Among other wines the main focus is on the Rhône Valley. There are good budget level wines (£B) released under the Vintners Cuvée label. There are also some impressive late-harvest bottlings including an excellent Black Muscat from the Gallagher Ranch in Madera County. Former winemaker Jeff Cohn also produces a small amount of very good Syrah under his own JC CELLARS label and has done much to create the splendid substance of this range. (DM)
