Stonestreet Wines Alexander Valley
One of a number of high-quality, medium-sized wineries in the Jackson family empire. Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon both in various guises, and the Bordeaux style red Legacy, a blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, are all impressive with fruit coming from the estate’s high altitude Alexander Mountain property in the Alexander Valley AVA and a number of individual vineyard sites. Chardonnay is in a rich, tropical style, with the top bottlings showing both refinement and the structure for mid-term cellaring. The reds are big, powerful and brooding, marked by high alcohol. They are rich almost chocolaty, with just the occasional leafy note in cooler vintages. Three additional whites are also released. Aurora Point is a Sauvignon Blanc, Terrace Point a Sémillon/Sauvignon blend and a varietal Riesling is also made. (DM)
