The Crossings Estate Marlborough
The Crossings represents a substantial investment in Marlborough with vineyards spread across three estates, all in the Awatere Valley. The wines are made by George Elworthy solely from grapes sourced from these vineyards. The focus is on Sauvignon, which does particularly well in the Awatere Valley as has long been illustrated by VAVASOUR. The regular Sauvignon has excellent structure with classic Awatere style, showing subtle mineral, citrus and passionfruit aroma and flavour – intense and long, it also promises to be ageworthy. A Reserve version is partly fermented and aged in barrel, adding a little more breadth and texture. It can be slightly less expressive than the regular version but nonetheless pungent and minerally with 3 years’ age. In addition Chardonnay and Riesling and a Pinot Rosé are produced but have not yet been tasted.
