Successful marketing-driven operation which produces an extensive range of wines at all levels. Regular red and white varietals are produced under the Valdivieso Classic label. At best these offer straightforward easy glugging. Some impressive red is produced under the Reserva label, though whites disappoint in comparison. Good Single Vineyard Cabernet Franc and Malbec particularly stand out amongst this range. Among the top wines the non-vintaged Caballo Loco is a blend that changes by the year and comes from varied vineyard sources. A new Rhône style blend, Éclat from a mix of Carignan, Mourvèdre and Syrah has also been added. Top reds particularly Caballo Loco will stand a little age. (DM)
