Vérité Wines Sonoma Valley
Recently established Jackson family premium operation specialising in Bordeaux red styles. The wines are all hand-crafted from various sites throughout Sonoma County. The vineyard sources are classic mountain terroirs and winemaker Pierre Seillan is able to source what the winery refers to as micro crus, producing wines from the very best blocks of a number of estates. Fruit comes from the Alexander, Bennett and Knights Valleys as well as Carneros and Atlas Peak. La Joie emulates the Left Bank of Bordeaux and is a blend of roughly two-thirds Cabernet Sauvignon with the balance Merlot. Youthfully backward and firmly structured, it is nevertheless very concentrated with fine, intense, very ripe dark berry fruit. La Muse, mainly Merlot and a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon, is more forward and opulent. Full of dark plum and spicy oak, the wine is richly textured, supple but finely structured. Without doubt the option of being able to source superb fruit from a number of sites adds complexity. The third wine in the portfolio is Le Désir, a Saint-Emilion style blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon. (DM)
