Walter Bressia Mendoza
Walter Bressia is a small scale wine producer as well as being one of Argentina’s better known consultant winemakers. Production is strictly artisanal so these excellent wines will not be that easy to find. The grapes come from both his own small holdings as well as other parcels. The Monteagrelo bottling is a varietal Malbec of fine purity and depth, loaded with dark, spicy tobacco-scented ripe fruit. The Profundo is a touch more structured with Malbec blended with Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot. As elsewhere no small element of the quality of the wines is achieved by incorporating Malbec of approaching 80 years of age. Both wines are aged in a mix of both French and American oak and will evolve well for at least five years. The range now extends to nine wines and includes a sparkler from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and the premium Ultima Hoja. (DM)
